Standing Room Only?

Just when I thought I was about to engage in another ordinary bus ride, an annoying kid and his father boarded my bus. During his reign of mischief, he stood on two of the seats near me.

Standing Room Only?

He was totally oblivious to the footprints he left. Unfortunately, his father just didn't care; neither did the two ladies who later sat in these very seats.

Take A Fare Hike

I was on my way to a photo shoot when I stumbled on a protest against the upcoming TTC fare hike. The shot below is the winning shot from the few that I took.

Take A Fare Hike

The placard doesn't connote that this is a TTC-related protest, but nonetheless, I wanted a streetcar in this shot anyway.

Okay, minor confession - I purchased a ticket for Avatar before going to the shoot. I don't want to be disappointed when screening time arrives.

Spotlight On Bloor

American Express currently has an ad at Bloor Station. The walls are mostly covered in it, but certain parts are left untouched. Here's exhibit A:

Spotlight On Bloor

Note how the spotlight hits the station name. I took a similar photo right before this one, but as I turned to board the train to Dundas station, this caught my eye and didn't let go.

Dundas (Not Square)

I guess only Torontonian readers will get the humour in this photo. Think of where you'd normally see a chair like the one below.

Even if you're not from Toronto, isn't it a little strange to see a portable chair in a subway station? I mean, the TTC can't be so cash strapped that it's relying on outside sources to seat its passengers while they wait for the next train.

Surrounded By Cults

Today in subway vandalism...

I waited until the subway stopped at Spadina station in order to take this photo. By the way, if "only cults advertise," the Freethought Association Of Canada is technically a cult. God knows they advertise, even if they don't know that he knows. ;-)

Christie Islington King

The Christadelphians have an ad which I've only seen at Bay station.

Torontonians should know which three stations were involved in the making of these photographs: Christie, Islington and King. Personally, I've seen the Christ in Christie for years, but I never would have come up with something like this.

Note that I'm not trying to push the King Of Kings through this blog entry, but rather, highlight clever photographic technique.

Nine Three Nine

I spent some quality time with my girlfriend today. Yes, my new camera. :-P

Waiting For The Shot...

At my Chesterton Shores photo shoot yesterday, instant inspiration struck me again in the same way that it did one week ago. There is a sign in the area which says, "Stop - unauthorized entry prohibited." I thought it would be a bit humourous to photograph that sign with a speeding train passing by. Since I can control shutter speed on my new camera, I thought this shot would be a breeze.

In one word, nope.

I'll make a long story short: due to desiring the best positioning possible, I waited one whole hour to get the shot below.

I still don't think it's absolutely perfect; I had to retouch it due to the presence of shadows. However, I still think that the wait was worth it and I'm sure I'll have many more stories like this one in my photoblogging career.

Return To Chesterton Shores (Aug 26 2009)

Consider this a bonus photo shoot; I didn't think that the Rouge Park shoot would be so short.

ANSI Z 26-1/AS-5 Z 26-1

I've uploaded yet another photo to my Flickr photostream. Here it is below.

It's funny how inspiration can strike you when you have your camera on you.

Like Scar Said, "Be Prepared"

Due to having my camera on me, I took a few shots after my workout this afternoon.

This was taken at King St. W. and Blue Jays Way; as you can see, the streetcar is already full, so Lord knows why these people want to get on it.

I wanted to take a picture of the "Waiting for the 87" sign ever since I saw it on a past joyride. However, when I reached this site, I thought it would be better if I shot a bus passing by.

On my ride home, it was raining very heavily. Thankfully, it tapered off on the last leg of my journey.
