A Tale Of Two Foxwells

Last year, I first noticed this street sign at the corner of Jane and Foxwell.

A Tale Of Two Foxwells

At first glance, it doesn't look as if anything is amiss. However, residents of this neighbourhood should automatically notice the error in the street sign. Foxwell should not be designated as an avenue, but a street.

I have two pieces of evidence to corroborate my assertion. First, here's a photo I took at Foxwell and Handel; note the correct designation here.

Second, have a look at this Google map where the same designation is used.

Strangely, this isn't the first instance of incorrect road designation which I've seen. At Keele and Humberside (south of Annette St.), the same thing happened last year.

Worth The Risk?

Just when I thought that I was done taking photos for the night, I saw this gem on Gladstone Avenue.

Worth The Risk?

I tried a few shots with Speedy and Mr. Diffuser (my current nickname for my flash diffuser), but all I really needed was Nifty. I tweaked the lighting in Photoshop Elements, but only subtly.

So much for keeping the eighth commandment.

Everything Remains RAW

Before and after the Magic Pony photo shoot, I took a few shots in RAW format.

Can't Get Ahead

During my Dairy Milk photo shoot earlier today, I noticed this sign which was pointing in the wrong direction.

The scramble intersection is at Yonge and Dundas (i.e. behind me), not Yonge and Shuter (i.e. ahead of me). Then again, if the sign was correctly positioned, this photo would never have been taken. :-)

ABCs At TEC

Before and during the broadcast of the Toronto Maple Leafs' season opener, I took a few shots of this LED board above the Toronto Eaton Centre.

I tried various metering settings (matrix, center-weighted and spot) before deciding on this take, for which I used centre-weighted metering. Getting the best shot wasn't quite as easy as 1-2-3.

Replacing Hope?

I believe I missed the bus when I exited my apartment this morning. This might have been a good thing this time, though; it enabled me to shoot this photograph.

I took quite a few shots of this, trying to get the right perspective. After a crop in Photoshop Elements, this is the result of my best shot.

Jack & Steven

Surprise - I found this near one of U Of T's campuses.

Pardon the cynicism, but the person or people who made these posters probably did the same thing when Michael Ignatieff propped up the current Conservative government. Big whoop.

SEXagenarian

Before my weekly stop at Whole Foods Market this afternoon, I chilled out in Yorkville for a few minutes. While doing so, I noticed the following ad.

Hopefully, when I reach 65, I won't only be thinking about sex. ;-)

Ahem...when I get my tripod next week, I plan to do a nighttime photo shoot in this neighbourhood. It'll be good to do a practice run before Nuit Blanche.

I spent some quality time with my girlfriend today. Yes, my new camera. :-P

Misplaced

I took this shot on my way to BusketFest.

It's a bit much to expect drivers to look in their mirrors as they exit a car wash.
